UPA Government Survives!

So after a long 10 day ritual of exchanging money before trust vote, finally the Govt survives. It was nothing but a show where the party which paid the most or promised the most to the MP’s to woo them in favor of their party was going on. No loyalties, no inhibitions of accepting money, no accountability towards the people who helped them elected to the seat was considered. Open horse trading show!!

It was disgusting to see the parties organizing meeting in 5 star hotels and holding down their horses so that others would not poach them! So much for loyalty towards party or following certain ideologies and seek vote projecting them before people. The drama this time didn’t end outside the parliament but it came out in open view before the public where some MP’s showing stacks of money having the great man Gandhi imprints on the bills who is said to be the father of nation! Good that he passed away long back…

There’s also a news going around that CNN IBN had made a sting operation where it has got Amar Singh and Ahmad Patel offering 1 crore to MP’s on tape, but god knows why they chose not to show it, so now even media cannot take tough decisions where big wigs are involved…

Kurta!!

Had a very hectic last weekend. Attended one marriage aniversay dinner, been to Kelzar ganpati darshan, Bore Dam etc and attended sangeet/coctail night just before the marriage of a very close friend and ofcource marriage on Monday and reception at night!

Every part of body is aching so much, because I don’t know when was the last time I danced around 4 hours inside 12 hours! Lots of crackers, lots of non veg, booze, a typical Punjabi wedding.Felt great to be in touch with old friends, one came from Dubai, another from Bihar in short total Dhamaal!Sis came back from Mumbai with lots of shopping and has brought a kurta for me which I haven’t tried till yet, shez gonna kill me so beta better try it tonight unless you want to get killed for not trying on a piece of cloth!! Sounds bizarre…but believe me it can happen!

Actually I havent actually fallen for the color of that kurta, but she has already decided the day when I am going to go out wearing it! So see there is no choice so I better take a liking for it and I have 3 days to do that!

Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic!!

Some time back I saw “ Thoda Pyar thoda magic” and I actually liked it.I had almost bought tickets of another movie titled similar to the one above and later I learnt that it was a sicko and had Jackie shroff in it!! Huush… 300 bucks saved!! But I cant figure out why in the world Jackie dada is working in such low quality films? God knows!...or maybe Mithun!

Coming back to the movie I saw,I really liked the funda of plus and minus points which has been explained to kids in the movie. Its so simple and yet so effective in our life. You are your own judge about your plus and minus points ( whenever we do good things it becomes plus and when we do things that we shouldn’t have goes as minus). So next time whenever something bad happens to us,lets think about plus and minus points and know our score and see if we deserved what has happened to us!

The performances in the movie by actors are very good, direction could have been better as the finishing touch is lacking in many scenes. 1-2 unnecessary songs could have easily been avoided. But it’s a sweet film, a family film sans Ameesha though!! Surprisingly it’s said that film is not doing too well which is a shame because such kind of films should work so that good films are made consistently. The last movie by Kunal Kohli was fanaa I suppose which was a huge hit so a lot more was expected from him this time he dosent disappoint but could have done a lot more!

Let me know how did you find the movie?

Petrol @ 61!!

Yes that’s the price of petrol which I have to pay to drive in Nagpur! This may be the costliest petrol price in the country actually.

Now let me explain you how is it so costly. Well the actual price of petrol is somewhere around 58 in this city, but recently I haven’t found a single petrol pump selling normal petrol at that price. All the petrol pump owners say that no Petro company’s are supplying them ordinary petrol, so that means everyone forcefully has to buy branded petrol like Speed,Power etc.So now the price of petrol is fixed at 61!!

And guys, do you know where is the cheapest petrol available outside India? Well its Venezuela.. and guess what how cheap is it? Its priced at 2.12 rs a litre!! 2.12… cheaper than coke!...branded water bottle!! Oh how must be the Venezuelans enjoying!! Other countries having cheapest petrol are Saudi Arabia and UAE paying 5 and 16 respectively!! Even our neighbours Pakistan and China pay less than what we do!

Everybody knows that Petro prices will zoom ahead again in future, but what worries me is that half of the available petro stock in this world has already been consumed!! And countries like USA and Russia have decreased the ouput in their respective countries so that it can be saved for future. We Indians are in for big trouble!! We are already getting petrol and diesel at subsidized rates and all the companies are making losses. One way to make for the loss would be to sell diesel at the price of petrol for vehicles which are not used for transport; which I know is difficult to implement.

So lets start praying that either the Nuclear treaty is signed or something is done about the Gas pipeline from Iran!! But still the future looks grim for another 10-15 years coz it would take years to actually benefit us. Time for Bullock carts…eh

And guys... let me know the price of petrol in your city!!

Sri Amarnath Shrine

Yesterday I caught upon a topic discussed on NDTV regarding the land allocation to Sri Amarnath Shrine board. The discussion had big wigs attached to Kashmir politics and others supporting the so called liberation of Kashmir. The anchor was the highly appreciated Barkha Dutt for the show.

In simple terms I understand the problem is associated with the land allocation to pilgrims visiting the Amarnath Yatra for temporary accomadation. And I have been thinking why is there such a hue and cry (well not just…) over a piece of land used for contructing temporary structures for the pilgrims. It just dosent strike me what is the problem regarding that? Can the people of this country not take shelter in the same state of Kashmir which we consider as a part of India? Why do we tolerate people such as Mirwaiz Omar Farooq,Syed Ali Shah Geelani etc who openly support Pakistan?

I have some memories back in college days, when we had students from Kashmir and North eastern states. The students from these states were given admission into engineering colleges through quotas. All people know how there is a fight for one seat in such colleges.. every mark counts!! And here we had quotas for students. Not only do they get admission but also on a merit seat!! In my time we used to call them free seats because there was a large difference between a payment seat and a free seat. Typically free seat used to cost 4000 against 32000 for a payment seat.

I do agree that some states are neglected and so they need help or we should do our bit to help them, but this has to been seen if the help provided is acknowledged or not! And people need to know what is the result of taxes they pay. Where the money has been utilized? Everyone knows the amount of money that has to be shelled for the soldiers that have been deployed there.Atleast that has to be acknowledged…..

The counter argument I heard over the land row was that they fear the structures would be permanently built and they feel their land would be acquired citing examples of Palestine. I have my doubts regarding that, as I feel their problem is all together different!
